The film Dunki’s worldwide collection on the first day was Rs 58 crore, as per the producers Red Chillies Entertainment. It is yet to be seen if the film can pick its pace on the weekend and of the overseas market can pull in a big share over the holidays.

After a great opening on Thursday, Dunki‘s earnings at the box office on the second day slid down even further. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer earned Rs 20.50 crore on Friday. This takes the film’s nett domestic collection to Rs 49.7 crore.

The film’s two day collections in India are much lesser than the opening day figures of SRK’s previous two releases, Pathaan and Jawan. Pathaan opened with Rs 57 crore nett and Jawaan made Rs 75 crore on opening day. Dunki is Shah Rukh’s third release this year.

Taking on to instagram on Friday, Shah Rukh’s wife and co-producer of Dunki, Gauri Khan shared a poster and revealed the global box office numbers of Dunki. The poster read, “Winning love worldwide! 58 crore worldwide GBOC.” The caption read in Hindi, “Came from a long distance… Now it seems that we will go a long distance, with your love…Watch #Dunki – In Cinemas Now!”

DOMESTIC EARNINGS :

As per the report, Dunki earned ₹29 crore in India on the first day of release. Dunki is likely to earn around ₹12.97 crore nett in India on its second day for all languages.

ABOUT DUNKI AND CHARACTERS :

In 2020, an aged Manu runs away from a hospital in London. She connects with an immigration lawyer, Puru Patel, and asks him to connect her with Hardy, her ex-lover. In Laltu, Punjab, an aged Hardy is ecstatic to receive Manu’s call. She asks him to meet her in Dubai, so that he can bring her back to India through “dunki”.

In 1995, Manu and her friends, Buggu and Ballu, live in Laltu, and yearn to immigrate to London for a better life. Poor and uneducated, they are unable to procure a visa, despite trying various methods. One day, an ex-soldier Hardy arrives in their village.Manu’s brother had saved his life in combat, and he has come back to return his personal belongings, but realises that he has died in an accident, leaving Manu and her family in dire financial need.

He promises to help Manu reach London, as a return for her brother’s kindness. They enrol at an IELTS coaching class taught by Geetu Gulati, where they meet Sukhi. Sukhi wants to immigrate to London to save his ex-lover, who was married off to an NRI man who physically abuses her. Only Balli clears the exams, and the rest fail.

Once in London, Balli tells Sukhi that his ex has died by suicide, due to which Sukhi too kills himself. Traumatised, Hardy promises to take Manu and Buggu to London himself through “dunki”

Dunki had the 13th-biggest advance booking of all time for a Hindi film.[79] On its opening day, it collected a net total of ₹28 crore (US$3.5 million) in India.[80] On its second day, it had a net domestic collection of ₹20 crore (US$2.5 million).[81]

As of 22 December 2023, Dunki has grossed ₹59.26 crore (US$7.4 million) in India, with a further ₹23.45 crore (US$2.9 million) in overseas, for a worldwide total of ₹82.71 crore (US$10 million).[3]

Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial film minted ₹438.6 crore at the worldwide box office, raking in ₹172 crore at the overseas box office and ₹266.6 gross at the Indian box office. In terms of occupancy on Saturday, Dunki had an overall 21.18 per cent Hindi language occupancy.
